Welcome to the Game Masters' Library
for Palladium Role Playing Games

The Library is intended to be a resource for Game Masters in a variety of games and settings that are published by Palladium Books® Inc. At this time it includes information about Heroes Unlimited, Nightbane and Rifts, but I hope it will expand over time. The Library primarily contains original material and will focus on tools for the Game Master, alternate rules, and background information for campaigns and settings.

Cover art from Heroes Unlimited 2nd Ed I first started using the Palladium Books® game systems in the mid to late '80s. I started with their Robotech(TM) game, although I also played the first editions of Beyond the Supernatural(TM) and Heroes Unlimited(TM) as well. Then I put them aside and went on to other systems (lots of other systems), although I did continue to refer back to the rules for ley lines and places of power in Beyond the Supernatural(TM).

In early 1997, I came across their Nightbane(TM) game and was hooked. Since then, I've started looking at their Fantasy RPG game and Rifts®, and in early 1998 the new second edition of Heroes Unlimited(TM). A number of concepts in the 2nd edition H.U. have filled in some of the blanks that had troubled me about the rules used across the various games. For the first time in ages I feel like I have a set of rules which I am totally happy with.

Most recently I have bought Skraypers(TM) and am in the process of preparing a campaign set on Seeron. My initial impression is that it has a lot of the things that I like about Nightbane(TM), primarily the invasion scenario where the super heroes get to INITIATE action instead of just responding when a villain robs a bank (or whatever), while not being quite so dark as Nightbane(TM). Because the heroes don't need to hide their very existance from the general public, and there are a fair number of resistance sympathizers among the people, the atmosphere is lighter than in Nightbane(TM) while still being serious and action packed.

I'll let you know how it goes. I hope to be adding more material, especially campaign details, in the near future.

House Rules

I have never played a role playing game where I didn't make changes to the rules, and Palladium is no exception. Some alternate rules are included below.
